LVLT announces open auditions for the 2025 New Works winner, The State of Virginia

Audition Dates: In-person auditions will take place on  Monday, Mar 10 and Tuesday, Mar 11, 2025 at 7pm

​

Location: Las Vegas Little Theatre 3920 Schiff Dr. Las Vegas, NV, 89103

​

Performance Dates: May 16 - 25, 2025 with performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 7pm and Saturdays and Sundays at 2pm. Rehearsals will begin the week of Mar 17th.

Show Description: This unlikely comedy follows Virginia, once an accomplished Psychiatric Counselor, who has lost most of her mobility and sight over the last three years. Her struggle to accept her new circumstance is made all the more difficult with the noisy and belligerent upstairs neighbor. Other tenants; Brenda, the firecracker next door, and Molly, the mysterious newcomer, make life on Lindlilly tolerable. But when the local police prove to be no help with the neighbor upstairs - Virginia decides to take matters into her own fumbling hands. Is Virginia responsible for the neighbor's dead body at the bottom of the stairs - really? With a possible homicide hanging over her head; lovable but annoying neighbors hovering, the reckoning with her body, and a spark of hope with a rekindled crush - at this moment, she's doing her best to just maintain…the state of Virginia.

Character Descriptions:

​

VIRGINIA (early 50s)- Virginia holds two Master degrees in Clinical Counseling - successful businesswoman…until three years ago when a viral infection caused the loss of her mobility and most of her sight. She now lives alone in a small apartment. Cantankerous, quick witted and often angry - she is doing her best to deal with her "new life" situation.

BRENDA (late 40s)- Virginia's neighbor and often care-taker, Brenda is a make-up artist. Lively and optimistic, she dresses too young for her age. And girl can talk - a lot. 

​

 

MOLLY (22)- Molly is the newest neighbor of Brenda and Virginia, having just moved into the building. Molly is awkward and difficult to read. She has secrets. 

​

 

OFFICER REASONS / DIRK (20-30s) - Officer Reasons is a big city cop in a small town. By the book and eager for any opportunity to get ahead and move to the big city - maybe Cincinnati or Columbus. Dirk is typical, hot UPS Delivery Man. 

​

 

OFFICER SILVERS (early 50s) - returning to the town he grew up in, Silvers works mainly to keep from being bored. He attended high school with Virginia and his interest in her is rekindled.

​​

All roles are available.

Auditions will be cold reading from the script. Headshots and resumes are accepted but are not required.
