The State of Virginia by Robb Willoughby is a dark comedy about Virginia, a once-successful psychiatric counselor who has lost her mobility and sight due to a viral infection. Struggling with her new reality, she contends with an inconsiderate upstairs neighbor, her lively and talkative caretaker Brenda, and Molly, a mysterious new tenant. When the local police fail to handle the ongoing disturbances, Virginia takes matters into her own hands—leading to a potential homicide investigation when her troublesome neighbor ends up dead. As she navigates the chaos of her building, a rekindled connection with Officer Silvers hints at hope amid her struggles. The play humorously explores themes of resilience, unexpected friendships, and the unpredictability of life.
